Chinese New Year Resolution - Slow the f$%* down

Happy Chinese New Year!

Last night A and I were being particularly lazy (I blame the heat), so we ordered Chinese from our local. Being the best girlfriend in the world I offered to collect not knowing what I was about to step into.

As the trusty Mazda pulled into the car park I could see and hear a lot of commotion outside our trusty restaurant. A small crowd had gathered to watch the performance by two Chinese dragons that were dancing in aid of Chinese New Year celebrations!

As I waited and waited for the performance to end I could feel myself growing with impatience and even a bit of anger. How dare these dancers get in the way of me collecting my dinner! After about five minutes I was pretty pissed off - why should I have to wait?

Then it dawned on me. The crowd were all smiling and clapping - really getting involved and enjoying the celebration. I should look at this as an opportunity to be a part of something very special and exciting instead of an inconvenience. Why was I in such a rush to get home (watching a rerun of the Superbowl  was what lay ahead of me). So I decided to slow down, take a few snaps, and enjoy a new cultural experience.

I hope you enjoy the Year of the Snake and have a Happy Chinese New Year.
